Aztec Women's Soccer Suffers 2-0 Defeat at Brigham Young

PROVO, Utah - The San Diego State women's soccer team suffered its third straight Mountain West Conference loss as it dropped a 2-0 decision at Brigham Young on Saturday afternoon. BYU improves to 10-5-0 overall and 3-0-0 in league action, while the Aztecs fall to 4-8-2 overall, 0-3-0 MWC.

The Cougars jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Kassidy Christensen found the back of the net at the 13:24 mark. Lauren Anderson then tacked on one more point for the home team in the 30th minute.

Brigham Young dominated the first half, out shooting the Aztecs, 10-2. Coming out of the break, San Diego State started to apply pressure on the Cougar defense, but it was unable to get on the board. Freshman Tiffany Hurst led the Scarlet and Black with a pair of shots, while juniors Millie Allen and Jessica Gordon, and senior Alicia Piz each tallied an attempt.

Senior Christi Yount earned her first start of the season and played the entire game inbetween the posts, notching five saves. Yount and the Aztec defense had a strong outing in the second half as they were able to hold BYU scoreless in the final 45 minutes.

San Diego State will return to action next weekend when it welcomes Air Force and Wyoming to the SDSU Sports Deck. The Aztecs will face the Falcons on Friday, Oct. 17, at 1:30 p.m. PT before tangling with the Cowgirls two days later at 2 p.m. PT.
