SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State Aztecs open their 86th season of football, 40th season at the Division I level and third under Chuck Long on Saturday, Aug. 30, in its home season opener against Cal Poly at Qualcomm Stadium at 6:30 p.m. PT.
The first 20,000 fans receive a Marshall Faulk replica jersey, presented by Associated Students. Fans can also save $5 on tickets in the Plaza/Club Corner (regular price $20) and Public General Admission (regular price $10) areas with presentation of Diet Pepsi can. The limit is four tickets per can, and one can per visit.
The game vs. Cal Poly is also part of Football Alumni Weekend and Welcome Week. Beginning two hours prior to kick-off, fans can visit the Aztec Village at F-1 in the Qualcomm Stadium parking lot. Aztec Village is free and open to the public at every home game. Season ticket holders can redeem their voucher included with their 2008 season tickets for "The Shirt".
In addition, the Welcome Week Student Tailgate, hosted by Associated Students and Athletics and presented by Cricket Wireless, will take place from 4:30-6:00 p.m. in P-3.
At halftime, the Marching Aztecs will perform a Latin/Jazz Show, featuring the color guard and dance team, while the softball and water polo teams will also be honored for their accomplishments In 2008. The softball team recently won the Mountain West Conference and made a NCAA regional appearance, while the water polo team advanced to the NCAA tournament for the second straight year.
Both single-game and season tickets are still available and can be purchased at GoAztecs.com, the SDSU ticket office (Window E) at Qualcomm Stadium or any Ticketmaster outlet. Season tickets start at just $50 and include all six home games, including the KGB SkyShow contest against Air Force on Oct. 11. Single-game tickets for the contest against Cal Poly start at $10.
