SAN DIEGO - The 17th in a daily series during fall camp, get to know another Aztec newcomer. Today, a conversation with freshman running back Robert Gregorio (Palos Verdes, Calif.).
GoAztecs.com: What have been your overall impressions of camp so far?
Gregorio: It's been kind of rough. It's definitely not like high school football, but I'm looking forward to the next four years here.
GoAztecs.com: What has been the biggest adjustment you've had to make from high school football to your workouts at SDSU?
Gregorio: The speed of the game is a lot different. As a senior in high school, the game was kind of slow, but now I'm a freshman again and it's a whole new level. It's hard but I'll get used to it.
GoAztecs.com: Why did you choose San Diego State?
Gregorio: Well, my older brother (defensive back Andy Gregorio) is here too. Also, I think this team has a lot of potential to be really good.
GoAztecs.com: How is it playing on the same team as your brother?
Gregorio: It's kind of sweet. Let's just say it has its ups and downs.
GoAztecs.com: What do you like to do in your spare time?
Gregorio: I'm a movie watcher. I like to hang out, relax and watch some movies. Once in a while I like to go wakeboarding.
GoAztecs.com: What is your favorite movie?
Gregorio: My favorite movie of all time is Gladiator.
GoAztecs.com: What type of music do you listen to?
Gregorio: I listen to a bunch of stuff, but mostly classical rock.
GoAztecs.com: Who was your role model when you were growing up?
Gregorio: My dad has been my role model, but the football player that I looked up to was Barry Sanders. He was a little guy who was the best ever.
GoAztecs.com: What is one place you've never been to that you would like to visit?
Gregorio: Costa Rica. I've never been there and I really want to go.
GoAztecs.com: What is your most memorable high school football moment?
Gregorio: My most memorable moment would be scoring five touchdowns in one game. That was pretty big for me.
GoAztecs.com: Do you have a favorite NFL team?
Gregorio: Chargers, hands down.
GoAztecs.com: What did you do over the summer before coming to camp?
Gregorio: I was working out back home the whole time. I also went on a vacation to Hawaii with my family.
GoAztecs.com: What is your intended major at SDSU?
Gregorio: I am going to study law.
