Meet The Aztecs: Q&A With Brian StahovichMeet The Aztecs: Q&A With Brian Stahovich

Aug. 21, 2008

SAN DIEGO - The 16th in a daily series during fall camp, get to know freshman punter Brian Stahovich (Solana Beach, Calif.).

GoAztecs.com: Why did you choose San Diego State?
Stahovich:
I'm a local kid, so I like that whole feature. I also really like the coaching staff and I thought they could help me with what I'm doing and make me better. I wouldn't want to play anywhere else but here.

GoAztecs.com: What have been your overall impressions of camp so far?
Stahovich:
I really like it. It's a little harder than I thought, but it's probably one of the best things I've done so far football wise. The coaches do a great job of coaching and everything is coming together as a team.

GoAztecs.com: What has been the biggest adjustment you've had to make from high school football to your workouts at SDSU?
Stahovich:
Probably the tempo that they work at. There's a lot more stuff to do, but you get used to it pretty quick and Coach Francis does a good job with all of that.

GoAztecs.com: What are you looking forward to most about the home opener vs. Cal Poly?
Stahovich:
Well, my sister goes to Cal Poly so I definitely want to beat them for bragging rights and also to show that we're going to be good this year. I want to prove to everybody else that we are something to watch for.

GoAztecs.com: What do you like to do in your spare time?
Stahovich:
Right now it's all about football, but I usually just like to hang out with my friends.

GoAztecs.com: What type of music do you listen to?
Stahovich:
I listen to pretty much everything. I usually just listen to the radio, so whatever is on I'll listen to it. I'm not really picky.

GoAztecs.com: Who was your role model when you were growing up?
Stahovich:
I would say my dad because he got to where he is today through hard work.

GoAztecs.com: What is your most memorable high school football moment?
Stahovich:
I would say winning CIF last year because that was one of the big ones. We actually played against Josh Wade (Point Loma HS) and we beat them pretty bad.

GoAztecs.com: Do you have a favorite NFL team?
Stahovich:
I don't really have a favorite NFL team, I just watch everybody. I like individual players but I don't have a team.

GoAztecs.com: Who is your favorite player?
Stahovich:
Reggie Bush. I used to watch him when he played here at Helix High School.

GoAztecs.com: What did you do over the summer prior to coming to camp?
Stahovich:
Well, I was here for the summer workouts. I was also helping my dad because we were building a new house and I just hung out with my friends when I could.

GoAztecs.com: What do you plan on studying at SDSU?
Stahovich:
I'm pretty sure I will major in biology.

Stay tuned for another question and answer session later today featuring freshman running back Robert Gregorio.
