SAN DIEGO - The ninth in a daily series during fall camp, get to know freshman defensive lineman Henry Simon (Chula Vista, Calif.).
GoAztecs.com: How has your experience at camp been so far?
Simon: It's been pretty fun and the older guys have been great. It's just a great experience and I'm glad to be here.
GoAztecs.com: Why did you choose San Diego State?
Simon: It was close to home and I love the school and the campus. Coach Long is a great coach and I love the program.
GoAztecs.com: What are you looking forward to most about the Family Day scrimmage tomorrow?
Simon: I'm excited to see my family come out and I want to do a good job to show them that I am doing well here.
GoAztecs.com: Did you play any other sports in high school?
Simon: I played basketball in high school, but I got a scholarship to San Diego State, so that is where I'm at now.
GoAztecs.com: What do you like to do in your spare time?
Simon: I like to play video games, especially Madden. I've also been looking at my playbook, but that's about it.
GoAztecs.com: What is your most memorable high school football moment?
Simon: It would have to be getting a sack against other great players in the Spanos North vs. South high school all-star game.
GoAztecs.com: What type of music do you listen to?
Simon: I like rap music and that's about it.
GoAztecs.com: What did you do over the summer?
Simon: I was working out, running on the treadmill and trying to get ready for camp.
GoAztecs.com: What is one place you have never been to that you would like to visit?
Simon: I would say Brazil. I want to travel there and see what it is like. I would also like to visit Jamaica. Those are both beautiful places.
GoAztecs.com: How did you get started in football?
Simon: When I was growing up in Texas, football was everything so I pretty much went from there. I couldn't play when I was younger because I was always over the weight limit, so I started in middle school.
GoAztecs.com: What do you plan to major in at San Diego State?
Simon: I'm probably going to major in sport management.
Stay tuned for another question and answer session later today featuring junior transfer offensive lineman Daniel Tufele.
