SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team completed its third and final two-a-day practice of the week on Friday, working out for a combined four hours over the morning and late afternoon sessions. The Aztecs, who have been in fall training camp since reporting to campus on Aug. 4, will head to Qualcomm Stadium Saturday for the team's annual Family Day scrimmage, slated to begin at 2 p.m., with gates opening at 1 p.m.

Aztec head coach Chuck Long said the scrimmage would go for approximately an hour and a half and the team will focus on special teams, specifically the kicking game, as well as tackling and redzone situations.

"We want to put our punters and kickers in front of a crowd (and see how they perform)," Long said. "That will be a big priority. We've also got to get some tackling work done and of course see how the quarterbacks do under pressure."

On Friday afternoon, the Aztecs got a lift from walk-on place-kicker junior Lane Yoshida (Pinole, Calif.), who recently joined the squad for camp on Thursday. Yoshida nailed all seven of his field-goal attempts, including makes of 49 and 52 yards. Yoshida is competing for the starting place kicking duties with sophomore Bryan Shields (Bonita, Calif.) and freshman David Brown (Ojai, Calif.).

Saturday's annual Family Day Scrimmage at Qualcomm Stadium is open to the public and is free of charge.
