SAN DIEGO - The eighth in a daily series during fall camp, get to know another Aztec newcomer. Today, a conversation with freshman wide receiver Dominique Sandifer (Gardena, Calif.).

GoAztecs.com: How has your experience at camp been so far?
Sandifer:
It's a lot of hard work, much harder than high school. But it's been fun because I get to learn new things everyday.

GoAztecs.com: What has wide receivers coach LeCharls McDaniel been working on with you the most?
Sandifer:
Reading coverages and my route running. It's a big transition from high school to college so I really have to work on getting the playbook down, reading the defensive coverages and finding the open areas.

GoAztecs.com: What is your most memorable high school football moment?
Sandifer:
My most memorable moment was when we played Santa Monica High School and I had 219 receiving yards for three touchdowns. They were our rivals and we beat them pretty badly.

GoAztecs.com: Who is the best player you either played with or against in high school?
Sandifer:
The best player I ever played with is my teammate, running back Ramon Judkins.

GoAztecs.com: Has it been helpful having Ramon here at SDSU to go through this new experience with?
Sandifer:
It is really helpful. Coming out here, it wasn't like I didn't know anyone. We're going through everything together and at the end of the day, we can talk about what we did in practice.

GoAztecs.com: What did you do over the summer?
Sandifer:
Well, after school got out I just kind of hung out for a week and then got right back to it in the weight room and with running. I worked hard so that I could come out here and do my best.

GoAztecs.com: What are you looking forward to most about Family Day on Saturday?
Sandifer:
I'm looking forward to seeing my baby sister. I haven't seen her since I've been out here and I just can't wait to see her.

GoAztecs.com: Did you play any other sports in high school?
Sandifer:
In high school I ran track. I did the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles and the relays. It was pretty fun.

GoAztecs.com: What do you like to do in your spare time?
Sandifer:
In my spare time I like to relax and just watch some TV. Since I've been here, I've really been working on getting the playbook down as well.

GoAztecs.com: Who did you look up to when you were growing up?
Sandifer:
My mother. I looked up to her because she is a strong lady. She helped me with everything and she's my best friend.

GoAztecs.com: Who was your favorite pro football player when you were younger?
Sandifer:
Randy Moss. Since I was young I have been a fan of his career. Now, I like Chad Johnson too.
