TOLUCA, Mexico - San Diego State pole vaulter Stephanie Bagan competed for Team USA at the North America, Central America and Caribbean (NACAC) Under-23 Championships this past weekend, July 18-20, in Toluca, Mexico.

Bagan, an indoor and outdoor All-American, was one of two athletes in America selected to compete for the United States.

The event was won by Katie Stripling of Arkansas after she cleared 14 feet, 3.25 inches (4.35m). Bagan, however, missed on all three attempts at 12-1.50 (3.70m) to post no height.

The U-23 event wraps up a successful 2008 season for Bagan, who in addition to earning All-America honors, won both the indoor and outdoor Mountain West Conference titles, the NCAA West Regional championship and was the runner-up at outdoor nationals. She was also named the MWC outdoor track and field student-athlete of the year prior to her appearance the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Eugene, Ore., earlier this month.
