SAN DIEGO - Four San Diego State women's basketball players, Shanna Demus, Kate Eveland, Tamika Lipford and Kim Spinardi, were honored for their work in the classroom, as each was named to the 2008 Mountain West Conference spring all-academic team, the league office announced Thursday. The four selections are the program's most in a single season since five players were tabbed following the 2001-02 campaign.
Demus (Palmdale, Calif.), Eveland (Southlake, Texas) and Lipford (Oceanside, Calif.) each finished their college basketball careers this past year, while Spinardi (Merced, Calif.) will be a junior in 2008-09. Eveland is a four-time MWC all-academic performer, Lipford is a three-time recipient and Demus and Spinardi are both first-time selections.
In order to be selected, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at SDSU while earning a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor on their respective teams.
