SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team returned to the practice field Tuesday afternoon following a 10-day absence for spring break. The Aztecs, who logged only two workouts in their first week of 2008 spring drills on March 25 and 28, donned full pads for the first time for the near three-hour practice at the team's on-campus facility.
"The (team's) intensity was good, but some of the execution was off, which could be expected considering (the break) and the fact that it was the first day in pads," said SDSU assistant head coach Bob Elliott.
Elliott ran practice Tuesday, taking over for head coach Chuck Long, who was in Illinois to be with his ill father. Elliott said he expected Long to return to San Diego on Thursday night.
