SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State track and field program announced Wednesday that it will not compete in this weekend's Stanford Invitational as originally planned. The Aztecs, however, will still make the trip to Claremont, Calif., for the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational set for Saturday, April 5.
Prior to the schedule revision, SDSU was slated split its squad with one traveling to Palo Alto, Calif., for the two-day Stanford Invite, set to begin on Friday, April 4, and the other appearing at the Pomona-Pitzer meet.
San Diego State is fresh off from winning its second straight Cal-Nevada Championships team title last weekend in Fresno, Calif. SDSU earned 175 points to finish ahead of preseason No. 6 and second-place UCLA. Head coach Rahn Sheffield earned Coach of the Meet honors, while Decontee Kaye garnered Track Athlete of the Meet accolades and Stephanie Bagan received Field Athlete of the Meet recognition.
The Aztecs will open competition on Saturday at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational at 9 a.m. PDT at Strehle Track.
