First Round Results/Second Round Tee Times in PDF Format
Three San Diego State women's golfers carded a first-round 79 in the team's first 54-hole event of the spring Monday at the 23rd Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Kaneohe, Hawaii. The Aztecs are 14th overall in the standings, just three strokes out of 12th place, with a 31-over 319 at the par-72, 5,907-yard Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course.
Two true freshmen, Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.) and Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.), and redshirt sophomore Petra Cole (San Diego, Calif.) each ended the day at 7-over 79 to tie them for 46th place. Cole and Roberts finished the final nine holes by carding a 40, after a 39 on the front nine, while Arcala logged the two scores in reverse.
Junior Maki Kamimura (West Covina, Calif.) was three strokes behind the underclassman trio at 10-over 82 to tie for 66th place. Senior Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia) rounded out the Aztec contingent in a tie for 84th at 14-over 86.
Sixth-ranked Arizona is the only team under par through the first 18 holes, firing a 2-under 286 to own a five-stroke lead over 15th-ranked Oklahoma State, which is at 3-over 291. Two Wildcats are one-two on the individual leaderboard with Alison Walshe recording a phenomenal 6-under 66 to beat her teammate, Amanda Wilson, by five strokes.
Tuesday's second round will begin at 7:30 a.m. HT with a shotgun start. The Aztecs will be paired with Memphis and Hawaii-Hilo and tee-off from the 14th-16th holes.
