BEAUMONT, Calif. - The San Diego State women's golf team completed its first tournament of the spring season on Tuesday, finishing in second place at the fourth annual Lady Braveheart Classic in Beaumont, Calif. The two-time defending champion Aztecs came up short in their quest for a third straight title at the par-72, 6,089-yard Oak Valley Golf Club, shooting a combined 69-over-par 645 during the 36-hole event to wind up 16 strokes behind first-place Cal Poly (+53). Meanwhile, redshirt sophomore Petra Cole (San Diego, Calif.) ran into difficulty over the final 18 holes, following up Monday's 78 with an 85 to finish in a tie for 21st at 19-over 163. Six other Aztecs competed as individuals at the tournament, led by freshman Kaitlen Miyajima (Wailuku, Hawaii), who recorded her best collegiate finish ever after shooting a 77 over the final 18 holes to tie for 10th place at 16-over 160.
