San Diego State Looks for Bounce Back Victory Wednesday Against New Mexico in "Think Pink" Game
Having won 34 of its last 39 home games, San Diego State (16-7 overall; 6-3 MWC) opens a two-game stretch against teams directly behind it in the league standings when SDSU plays host to New Mexico (18-6; 5-4 MWC).

Game time is set for 8:05 p.m. PT and the contest will be televised by The Mtn. The game can be heard on the flagship station for Aztec athletics, AM 600 KOGO.

San Diego State had its modest two-game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon and suffered its first loss to TCU in the MWC era, in a 68-62 setback in Fort Worth. The Aztecs, which were outrebounded for just the sixth time this season, could not overcome a -16 rebound margin and 40.8 percent field goal shooting.

Junior center Ryan Amoroso continued his strong play with a game-high 20 points and a team-high six rebounds. The Marquette transfer was 7-of-8 from the field and reached double figures for the fifth time in seven games. Junior point guard Richie Williams, making just his second start after returning from a broken left wrist, had a game-high five assists to go along with six points, three rebounds and three steals.

SDSU is 16-7 after 23 games for the third consecutive season. The previous two campaigns have ended pretty well, with the 2005-06 team claiming the MWC regular-season and tournament championships en route to 24 wins and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. In 2006-07, the Aztecs posted 22 wins and advanced to the second round of the NIT.

New Mexico is in a two-way tie for fourth place (with SDSU's Saturday opponent, Utah), one game behind the Aztecs in the MWC race. The Lobos have won two straight and four of their last six games. In victories over Colorado State and Wyoming last week, New Mexico outscored its opposition 191-106. Senior guard J.R. Giddens is the team leader, averaging 14.3 points and 8.5 rebounds.

The San Diego State athletic department is taking part in Think Pink Week, a week of activities to call attention to cancer awareness, specifically breast cancer. At Wednesday night's game, the American Cancer Society will have representatives at the gates passing out information. The Aztecs will don pink shooting shirts and coaches will wear a pink ribbon.

The Aztecs and Lobos are meeting for the 62nd time with New Mexico owning a 35-26 advantage. San Diego State has won five consecutive games, including a 72-67 come-from-behind victory on Jan. 12 at The Pit. In that game, the Aztecs rallied from a 14-point deficit to win their third straight game at The Pit, marking just the fifth time a visiting team has won at least three consecutive games at the venue.
