SAN DIEGO - San Diego State men's basketball team returns to action this week when it plays host to New Mexico on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Cox Arena. The game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. PST tip-off and will feature two squads that currently reside in the upper half of the Mountain West Conference standings.
Fans who buy tickets in advance can take advantage of SDSU's Mountain West Wednesday Special, which is only available for purchase in advance at Window E at Qualcomm Stadium. The special will provide fans a general admission ticket, hot dog, chips and soda for just $12.
The Mountain West Wednesday Special is available up until 5 p.m. on Tuesday at Qualcomm Stadium Window E. Regular single-game tickets can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com, by calling Ticketmaster at 619.220.TIXS, or by visiting the Cox Arena Box Office or Qualcomm Stadium Window E.
Wednesday's contest will also include Think Pink activities designed to raise awareness of breast cancer. San Diego State will don pink warm-up shirts before the game, while the American Cancer Society plans to set up an information table where fans can receive a pink bracelet for a small donation.
The Aztecs (16-7; 6-3 MWC) return to the friendly environs of Montezuma Mesa after a tough 68-62 loss at TCU on Saturday. Junior Ryan Amoroso scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down six rebounds, while fellow classmate Kelvin Davis added 15 points and four rebounds in his first start since Dec. 4. Despite the setback, SDSU remains in third place in the MWC, one game behind second-place UNLV and 1.5 games in back of conference leader Brigham Young.
Meanwhile, the Lobos (18-6; 5-4 MWC) occupy fourth place in the league standings and now trail San Diego State by one game after their 100-55 rout of Wyoming at home on Feb. 9. New Mexico, which received a career-high 36 points from senior guard J.R. Giddens, has won two straight with wins over Colorado State and the Cowboys.
