SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's basketball team had four players score in double-figures, including redshirt freshman Allison Duffy (Lakeside, Calif.) who had a career-high 22 points, as the Aztecs claimed an 86-52 victory over visiting Colorado State Wednesday evening at Cox Arena. SDSU won its third consecutive league outing to improve to 3-4 and 12-7 overall, while the Rams fell to 2-17 and 0-6 in conference action.

"We started the game very well again," said SDSU head coach Beth Burns. "We established our inside game, which I thought we really needed to do. They lost a little confidence at UNLV, but we thought (that was an area where) we could attack tonight and went there early and often."

Duffy logged her first career 20-point scoring effort and also added three assists and three steals. Three Aztecs ended the evening with 16 points apiece, including sophomore Jené Morris (San Francisco, Calif.), freshman Paris Johnson (San Diego, Calif.) and senior Shannon Clay (Inglewood, Calif.). Clay's 16 points were a career-best and came on 8-for-9 shooting, as she made each of her first seven shot attempts from the floor and also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

SDSU fell one short of a season-high in assists with 27, as Morris, sophomore Quenese Davis (Sacramento, Calif.) and freshman Coco Davis (Sacramento, Calif.) all had six helpers apiece.

San Diego State went up early on Colorado State and never trailed in the game, jumping out to a quick 4-0 advantage. The Rams closed to within three points at 7-4 on a lay up by Juanise Cornell, but the Aztecs answered with an 11-0 run to lead by 14 at the 14:04 mark. SDSU would lead by as many as 23 points in the first half and held a 21-point advantage at 43-22 at halftime.

Colorado State did not back down coming out of the break, cutting its deficit down to just 15 with 16:11 left and the score 47-32. The Aztecs restored order 13 seconds later on a Duffy jumper and the team's lead hovered around 20 points before three baskets by Clay highlighted an 8-0 run to put them up by 26 at 69-43. San Diego State would go on to claim a 34-point win over Colorado State, 86-52, for its second straight victory over the Rams in San Diego.

The Rams were led by forward Elle Queen and guard Sara Hunter's 11 points, as CSU shot 46.5 percent from the field, but could not overcome its 30 turnovers.

SDSU will have a bye on Saturday before completing the first round of conference play next Wednesday at Air Force beginning at 7 p.m. MST.
