ORLANDO, Fla. - The San Diego State cheer squad placed third in the all-girl Division I finals at the 2008 College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championships in Orlando on Saturday evening.

"We're very pleased to place third at the UCA Nationals," said Aztec head coach Jen Kwappenberg. "In some respects this performance was better than when we finished second two years ago. At that competition many teams struggled. This year the competition was dramatically improved and we were very close to Memphis and Morehead, two of the best cheer programs in the country."

The University of Memphis took home the title and was followed by defending national champion Morehead State. Other schools that reached the all-girl Division I finals were Indiana University, Oakland University and the University of South Florida.
