SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's basketball team will play host to Wyoming on Saturday night, Jan. 19, in an 8 p.m. PST game at Cox Arena. The game is designated as Alumni Night on an evening where the Aztecs will look to strengthen their hold on first place in the Mountain West Conference.
As part of Alumni Night, SDSU Alumni Association members can purchase one $12 general admission ticket and receive one free by showing their SDSU Alumni Association card at the Cox Arena box office or at the Aztec Ticket Office at Qualcomm Stadium Window E.
SDSU comes into the game having improved to 3-0 in MWC play for the first time in school history and the first time in league play since the 1984-85 season with its overtime victory over Utah on Wednesday. With a 13-4 overall record, the Aztecs have matched the '84-85 team for the best start to a Division I campaign and also match their best record in the last 41 seasons after 17 games.
On Saturday night, SDSU will look to up its conference record to 4-0 for the first time as an MWC school and the first time since the 1984-85 Western Athletic Conference season.
Wyoming, meanwhile, visits Montezuma Mesa with a 6-9 overall record and a 0-3 mark in conference play. Two of the Cowboys' two MWC losses went into overtime and were by a combined 11 points. Wyoming comes into the game as the only team to beat San Diego State twice last season and return a pair of all-conference guards in Brandon Ewing and Brad Jones.
Ewing is the Mountain West's top scorer at 17.5 points, leads the league in assists at 4.73 and ranks fourth in free-throw percentage (79.8 percent). Completing the Wyoming backcourt is Jones, who is averaging 13.7 points (12th in MWC), 6.5 rebounds (5th) and 4.14 assists, which is second only to Ewing.
