PROVO, Utah - The San Diego State women's swimming and diving team dropped a 136-96 decision to BYU on Saturday afternoon at the Richards Building Pool. The Cougars improved to 8-0 overall, and 4-0 in the Mountain West Conference, while the Aztecs fell to 5-5 overall, 2-5 MWC.

Freshman Brooke Vessey led off the individual events with a season-best 25.33 in the 50 freestyle, which was good enough for second place. Classmate Gina DiDomenico also had a runner-up performance and season best in the 200 individual medley (2:12.72).

Elsewhere, the Aztecs had second-place finishes from Katie Smith (200 backstroke, 2:11.32) and Rosalie Raymond (500 free, 5:18.56). Alexandra Rogers also captured third place in the 200 back with a time of 2:11.41.

SDSU's relay squad of Keely Brooks, Christine Graham, Ana Dowell and Kyla Power also took the silver in the 200 medley (1:52.36).

The Aztec divers had another strong competition, taking the second through fifth slots in both events. Keely Brooks led SDSU in the three-meter with a a point total of 248.63, and was followed by Megan Flanagan (239.00), Kristen Maurer (233.28) and Caitlin Atkinson (223.18).

On the one-meter board, Atkinson was San Diego State's top finisher with a score of 261.83. She was followed by Brooks (241.35), Flanagan (240.93) and Heuring, who had a season-best 228.20.

The Aztecs will return to action next Saturday, Jan. 19, when they head to Colorado Springs, Colo., for a double dual meet against Cal State East Bay and host Colorado College at 1 p.m. PT.
