SAN DIEGO - SDSU head volleyball coach Mark Warner has announced that Paije Pearson, a 6-0 outside hitter from Chandler, Ariz., has signed a letter of intent to play at San Diego State beginning next fall.

Pearson is currently a senior at Chandler High School where she was a four-year varsity starter for the Wolves. She is listed among the top 100 seniors (#78) in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com and was selected the 5A-1 Fiesta Region player of the year. She was named to the 5A all-state team in Arizona after helping lead Chandler to the final four at the state championships.

As a senior, Pearson led the 5A Fiesta League with 4.7 kills per game and 0.6 service aces per game. Her average of 0.5 blocks per game was second in the league and she also averaged 1.9 digs per game and hit .341 over the course of the season. In league play, her kill average improved to 5.7 kpg and she recorded 20 or more kills in six of her final nine matches in 2007.

During her freshman campaign, Pearson was named the team's offensive player of the year and earned team MVP honors each of the following three seasons as well. She was an all-state honorable mention selection in her second season and a second-team all-state honoree as a junior as well.

Pearson, who carries a 4.1 grade point average and is involved in volunteer work in her local community, also played for Club Red in Mesa, Ariz., where her 18-1 team won the open regional championship earlier this year.
