Aztecs Shoot For 100th Victory in Cox Arena; Look to Extend 10-Game Homecourt Winning Streak Monday vs. Navy
Riding a Cox Area-record 10-game winning streak, San Diego State (8-2 overall; 0-0 MWC) looks to continue to match its best start since the 1937-38 season on Monday night when the Aztecs play host to Navy (3-7 overall; 0-0 Patriot).

Game time is set for 7 p.m. and the contest will be televised nationally by CSTV (San Diego Cox Cable channel 321, San Diego/North County Time Warner channel 415, DirecTV 610, Dish Network 152) and can be heard on AM 600 KOGO.

This game opens a stretch in which the Aztecs will play six of their next eight games at home. SDSU is looking to extend its longest homecourt winning streak in 25 years (since winning 16 straight home games beginning on Dec. 3, 1977 and snapped on Dec. 29, 1978).

The Aztecs are coming off a disappointing 69-64 loss to Saint Mary's in the John R. Wooden Classic in Anaheim, Calif. The Aztecs led by as many as eight points in the game and enjoyed a five-point halftime advantage, but couldn't overcome 41.9 percent field goal shooting and an uncharacteristic 8-for-18 performance from the free-throw line.

Junior guard Kelvin Davis came off the bench to score a team-high 19 points and add five rebounds. Junior forward Lorrenzo Wade, who matched his career-high by scoring in double-figures for the sixth consecutive game, added 11 points and four rebounds. Junior point guard Richie Williams reached double figures in his third consecutive game for the first time in his career with 11 points and added four rebounds. Freshman forward Billy White rounded out the double-figure scorers for the Aztecs with 10 points and four rebounds.

San Diego State is 8-2 this season despite playing only three home games to date. The two teams the Aztecs have lost to, both of whom SDSU led in the second half (by nine points at California and by eight points vs. Saint Mary's) are a combined 12-2 through Tuesday's games.

Navy is well-rested for its trip to the West Coast. The Midshipmen haven't played since Dec. 3, making it two weeks in between games for the Academy. This is one of three games for Navy athletic teams in San Diego this week, as the women's basketball team will face the Aztecs on Tuesday night at Cox Arena and the football team will face Utah at Qualcomm Stadium in the Poinsettia Bowl on Thursday night. The Academy is expecting to have more than 1,000 supporters in attendance for the first basketball meeting betweeen the schools since Jan. 3, 1984.

The Aztec men's program is searching for their 100th victory at Cox Arena at Aztec Bowl. Constructed prior to the beginning of the 1997-98 campaign, this is SDSU's 11th season in the facility that has played host to the first two rounds of the NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament in both 2001 and 2006. San Diego State owns a 99-59 record in the facility, but is 28-3 in its last 31 home games, and as previously mentioned, has reeled off 10 consecutive victories in the venue.

If you are looking for a couple of positive trends here you go. The Aztecs have been particularly tough coming off losses. SDSU has responded from its last six losses with a win and is 19-4 in the immediate contest following its last 23 defeats. In addition, SDSU is a perfect 4-0 on CSTV since the MWC signed a lengthy deal with the network prior to last season.
