SAN DIEGO (AP) - Kelvin Davis scored 16 points and Lorrenzo Wade added 14 to lead San Diego State to a 59-46 win over UC Riverside on Tuesday night.

Davis hit 6-of-12 shots on a night when San Diego State (8-1) made only 34 percent of its field goal attempts, including a 3-of-15 shooting performance from 3-point range.

The win matched the best nine-game start in San Diego State's 38-year Division I history. It was the fifth time the Aztecs have reached the mark, including last season.

San Diego State has beaten UC Riverside (2-6) in all seven meetings.

Larry Cunningham scored a game-high 21 points for the Highlanders, who committed 22 turnovers and were outrebounded 38-30.

Richie Williams added 13 points for San Diego State, which made 20 of 25 free throws compared to UC Riverside's 7-for-11.
