SDSU Earns Ninth-Straight Home Win; Triumphs Over Western Michigan, 72-61

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Kyle Spain and Richie Williams each came off the bench to score 16 points and help San Diego State defeat Western Michigan 72-61 on Saturday night.

After sitting out a game with an ankle sprain, Spain was eased back into duty for the Aztecs (7-1), playing just 20 minutes but going 6-for-10 from the field and pulling down four rebounds. Spain has scored at least 11 points in every game he has played this season.

David Kool led Western Michigan (4-4) with 14 points and Derek Drews had 11. Joe Reitz had 10 rebounds. The Broncos shot just 35.7 percent from the field.

Western Michigan trailed by only two points, 32-30, at halftime, and were tied 42-42 with 12:30 left in the game.

San Diego State then scored 10 straight points to take control. The run started as Williams went 4-for-4 from the foul line on consecutive possessions

Billy White scored 13 points for the Aztecs, Lorrenzo Wade had 12 and Ryan Amoroso scored 11.

San Diego State has won nine straight games at home.
