San Diego State Travels to Los Angeles for Mid-Week Contest Against Loyola Marymount  
San Diego State (5-1) wraps up its longest road swing of the season with a mid-week game at Loyola Marymount (2-4) on Wednesday night in Los Angeles.
Game time at Gersten Pavilion is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. PST. There is no television coverage for the non-conference tilt, but the game can be heard in San Diego on AM 600 KOGO. Ted Leitner will have the call courtside.
The Aztecs, who had their five-game winning streak and the fifth-best start in SDSU history snapped at California on Saturday afternoon, will be looking to become just the second squad (1980-81) in school history to open a Division I season with six victories in its first seven contests.
San Diego State will also look to respond with a win following a loss for the six straight time. In their past 22 defeats, the Aztecs have bounced back well as they have an 18-4 record in the game immediately following a loss.
As previously noted, SDSU was tripped up on the road in Berkeley as the Golden Bears handed the Aztecs a 77-69 defeat. San Diego State enjoyed a lead as large at 14 points in the first half, but could not overcome California's 57.7 second-half field goal percentage. Despite shooting just 28.6 percent from the field in the second half, the Aztecs used their high-pressure defense to keep them in the game as the score was tied at 66 until the Bears moved ahead for good with 2:53 left in the ballgame.
Juniors Kelvin Davis and Lorrenzo Wade led San Diego State in scoring with 17 points. Davis, who made several clutch baskets to keep the Aztecs in the game, connected on a personal-best five three-point field goals in 25 minutes.
LMU comes into the game having won its last time out in overtime, 97-92, at Mercer. Overall, the Lions have won two of their last three games after beginning the season with three consecutive losses.
Wednesday's meeting is the 59th all-time between the schools with the Aztecs owning a 32-26 advantage in the series. In games played in the City of Angels, however, San Diego State is just 7-17. The last time SDSU made the short trip north, the Lions captured the 72-68 victory.
This is also the fourth straight season and fifth in the last six years in which the teams have met with the Aztecs taking two of the last three. Both of SDSU's two most recent wins have come at Cox Arena, including a 74-63 decision a year ago.
SDSU has become real familiar with the West Coast Conference this season having already played Portland and San Diego after the first six games of the year. After the showdown with the Lions, the Aztecs will wrap-up their WCC tour with Saint Mary's on Dec. 8. So far, San Diego State has had its fair share of success against the conference and will be looking for its seventh consecutive victory vs. the WCC on Wednesday.
Following the trip to Los Angeles, SDSU will stay in "America's Finest City" for what will be its longest homestand before ringing the new year. The Aztecs will play host to Western Michigan, a team which defeated SDSU last year, on Dec. 1, before UC Riverside comes to town for a Dec. 4 match-up. After the two-game stretch at home, San Diego State will face the Gaels in the John R. Wooden Classic in Anaheim, Calif.
