COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State ended a five-match losing streak with a four-game win over Air Force Friday evening in Colorado Springs. The Aztecs were victorious by scores of 30-16, 24-30, 30-21, 30-25 as they improved to 12-10 on the season overall and 4-7 in the Mountain West Conference. The match was the final home contest of the year for the Falcons, who saw their record fall to 7-21 (0-14 MWC).

SDSU senior Lindsey Mahan led all players with 16 kills on the night and also recorded seven digs, four blocks and a pair of assists. Joining her in double figures in kills for the Aztecs were teammates Hannah Evans with a dozen and Lauren Salisbury with 10.

Evans completed her fifth double-double of the season by adding 10 digs. The redshirt freshman from Texas also had three service aces along with four blocks. Salisbury, meanwhile, finished with eight blocks and also had three digs and an assist.

Senior libero Aime Cordeiro chipped in with 34 digs over the four games, her highest total in a match since she had 44 against Cal State Fullerton on Sept. 11. In addition, junior Leah Lathrop and senior Kristen Castillo split the setting stats with 23 and 22 assists respectively.

Air Force's Katie Batchelder led the way for the Falcons, notching a double-double with 15 and 12 digs. Jasamine Pettie added 11 kills and five blocks for the home side.

In the opening game, the scored was knotted at 5-5 when San Diego State won eight of the next nine points to take control. SDSU slowly pulled away for the 14-point win as it was helped by the Falcons ending the contest with -.116 attack percentage.

Game two saw the Air Force take control early as they led from start to finish while building a nine-point lead along the way. Pettie led the Falcons with five kills while the Aztecs could muster a team total of only 11 while hitting .047.

After the break, SDSU regained the momentum as it jumped out to a 15-5 lead in game three. Mahan led the way with six kills while hitting .625.

The fourth game was the closest of the evening as it featured eight tied scores and several lead changes. Down 20-17, the Aztecs put together a run of seven points behind the serving of Caitlin McMillan. SDSU maintained its lead the rest of the way with kills by Mahan and McMillan finishing off the match.

The Aztecs now return home to face 20th-ranked Colorado State on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 11:30 a.m. in Peterson Gym. The match, originally scheduled for Oct. 27, was postponed from that date due to the wildfires in the San Diego area.
