FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- Ryan Amoroso scored 19 points and pulled six rebounds and San Diego State took advantage of a slow start by Fresno State to earn a 89-72 win on Sunday.
The Bulldogs (2-1) missed their first four shots, and failed to keep up with San Diego State, which shot nearly 60 percent from the field in the first half and dominated in the post.
Lorrenzo Wade added 18 points and Kelvin Davis came off the bench to score 15 to help the Aztecs start the season at 3-0.
Kevin Bell led Fresno State with a game-high 25 points and six assists. Dwight O'Neil added 15.
But the Bulldogs offense, based on perimeter scoring, played out of sync early yet finished the game by converting 60 percent of its 3-pointers (9-for-15).
Still, the deficit increased to double digits in the first half with Billy White's putback with 13:37 left. San Diego State led by 19 after Davis' 3-pointer with 5:55 remaining before halftime.
Bell scored 15 of his points in the second half as the Bulldogs attempted a rally. Nedeljko Golubovic rebounded his missed 3-pointer and found Alex Blair for a dunk midway through the second half, trimming the deficit to 75-63.
But Lorrenzo Wade countered with one of his three 3-pointers.
