SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2007-08 schedule, with three wins in singles play on the final day of the second SDSU Fall Classic. The three-day tournament concluded with junior Holly Bagshaw and freshman Olivia Colman capturing the final in their respective flights.
Bagshaw won her third match of the weekend and claimed the Flight 1 singles title, with a 6-3, 7-5, victory over TCU's Idunn Hertzberg. Also in Flight 1, senior Eliska Krausova finished her sweep through the consolation draw by defeating Chelsea Orr of Oklahoma, 6-3, 6-2.
Colman, who went 3-0 on the weekend, ran away with the Flight 4 championship by recording a 5-7, 7-5, 6-4, triumph over Melinda Wong of Washington.
Earlier in the day, two Aztec duos were unable to complete their title runs in doubles action. Bagshaw and Krausova dropped a 9-7 decision to Joyce Ardies and Tara Simpson of Washington in the Flight 1 finals, while over in Flight 2, Oklahoma's Tara Eckel and Christi Baxley defeated Colman and Ozge Atalay, 8-3.
The Aztecs will return to action next semester when they host UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Aztec Tennis Center.
