SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's soccer team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule on Sunday with its highest offensive showing of the season by registering a 3-0 victory over CS Bakersfield at the SDSU Sports Deck.

With the victory, the Aztecs end non-conference play with a 5-5-2 record, while CSUB falls to 2-9-1 on the campaign.

Behind freshmen Ashley Omphroy and Brooke Holliday, and junior Alicia Piz, who each scored their first goal of the season, SDSU recorded its highest output and scored more than one goal for the second time this year.

"This was a really good way to wrap up non-conference action," head coach Mike Friesen said. "Our offense played really well and that will give us a lot of confidence as we begin conference season.

"We are really looking forward to stepping back onto the field next weekend and working towards our goal of winning a conference championship."

The offense was on top of its game in the first half where Piz and Omphroy each scored a goal in a span of 10 minutes.

Piz, a native of Littleton, Colo., scored her second career goal at the 21:17 mark when she connected on a header that got past the right side of CSUB's Nicole Padilla. Piz was set up by senior Jackie Ragudos who came in from the right of the penalty box and sent a cross Piz's way.

The second goal was scored by Omphroy who also took a header, this time from senior Jessica Girdner in the middle of the box, and pushed it past the left side of the goalkeeper in 31st minute.

In the second half, Holliday posted the team's third goal when she took a cross from Ragudos from beyond the right side of the penalty box and hit a header from about five yards in the center of the box.

SDSU's 16 shots not only marked the team's highest output this season, but gave the Aztecs the shooting edge in a game for only the second time in 2007.

The Aztecs open up conference action next weekend with a pair of matches on the road. On Friday, SDSU will square off at Air Force at 5 p.m. MT. The Aztecs will then travel to Las Vegas to take on UNLV at 2 p.m. MT on Sun., Oct. 14.
