COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State sophomore Lindsay Barajas has been named Mountain West Conference women's cross country athlete of the week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. The award is the first of Barajas' career and is the second honor this season for the Aztecs after Lisa Naucler was recognized in September.

A native of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Barajas led SDSU at the Cougar 5K Challenge this past Saturday on the campus of Cal State San Marcos. The sophomore posted a personal-record time of 19 minutes, 8 seconds and her time was nearly 33 seconds faster than her previous PR of 19:40.50 accomplished at the UC Riverside Invitational on Sept. 29.

Overall, Barajas finished in 15th place, marking her best-ever finish and the top 5K finish among all Aztecs in 2007. Her effort in north San Diego County was also the fourth-best 5K time this season for San Diego State.
