BREMERTON, Wash. - The San Diego State men's golf team's final round of the Husky Invitational on Tuesday was canceled due rain and winds in the Pacific Northwest. The Aztecs completed the 36-hole event at the par-72, 7,061-yard Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash., in a tie for fifth place with California. Both teams carded a 21-over 597.

The Aztecs finished 12 strokes behind tournament champion Oregon State (585). The Beavers, which shot an even-par 288 in the first round, where able to complete their second round (nine-over 297) early this morning after Monday's postponement due to darkness.

San Diego State's highest finisher for the second consecutive tournament was freshman Johan Carlsson who tied for 12th place. The Gothenberg, Sweden, native shot a one-under 71 in the first round after tallying five birdies. Carlsson, who fired a 2-under 214 in his first collegiate tournament on Sept. 14-15, couldn't repeat his opening round performance as he had five bogies on his way to carding a 76 (+4) in the second round.

In his second collegiate tournament, freshman Matt Hoffenberg tallied a six-over 150 (76-74) and finished in a tie for 20th place. Junior David Palm was one of three competitors tied with Hoffenberg after firing back-to-back rounds of 75 (+3). Senior All-American Aaron Goldberg ended his tournament run tied for 24th after shooting a seven-over 151. The Encinitas, Calif., native fired a 79 in the first round before rebounding to fire an even-par 72 in the second.

Rounding out the scoring for SDSU was senior Chad Moscovic who carded a 16-over 160 (78-82).

SDSU was the top Mountain West Conference finisher in the field, with BYU sitting in 10th place (607, +31) and New Mexico two strokes in back of the Cougars in 12th place.

Oregon State's James Allenby claimed the individual medalist honor by carding a six-under 138 (67-71).

The Aztecs will return to action on Mon., Oct. 8, at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational in Fairfax, Calif. The 56-hole event will conclude on Tues., Oct. 9.
