The 18th-ranked San Diego State men's soccer team had its eight-game unbeaten streak snapped in a 3-1 loss to Washington on Friday night in Seattle. It was the first loss for the Aztecs (7-3-2, 3-1-0 Pac-10) in Pac-10 play, while the Huskies, who defeated nationally ranked New Mexico and SMU earlier this season, improved to 6-5-2 and 1-2-1.

It was also the first loss for SDSU in Pac-10 play since a 2-1 defeat to UCLA on Oct. 8, 2006. San Diego State is 5-1-3 in its last nine league matches and 8-2-3 over its last 13 conference games.

Redshirt senior Kraig Chiles (San Diego/Poway HS) scored for SDSU on a penalty kick in the 89th minute. Chiles, who earlier this week was named the College Soccer News National Player of the Week and Pac-10 Player of the Week, has scored four times over the last three games. He is now 4-for-4 in penalty kicks over the last two seasons.

Chiles and redshirt sophomore Steve Beitashour had a team-high three shots for the Aztecs. Senior Matt Lemire contributed two shots off the bench.

Jorge Rosales (1-1-0), making his second start of the season, played all 90 minutes in net and made four saves.

Ely Allen scored all three goals for Washington.

SDSU will continue its stay in the Pacific Northwest with a match at Oregon State at 11 a.m. Sunday.

MAN OF THE MATCH: Senior Kraig Chiles earned Man of the Match honors after scoring a goal via penalty kick in the 89th minute. It was his fourth tally in his last three games.
