The San Diego State women's golf team is in fourth place out of 18 schools after day one of the squad's lone home tournament of the season, the Aztec Fall Classic, at the par-72, 6,216-yard Salt Creek Golf Course in Chula Vista, Calif. The Aztecs posted a first round score of 304 Monday, and trail first place UC Irvine by seven strokes, but are just three behind second place Hawai'i.

The SDSU `A' team was led by junior Alana Erlandson (Palm Desert, Calif.), who recorded a 1-over 73 with four birdies to sit in a tie for fourth place in the individual standings. Erlandson's performance is a season-best by nine strokes, but is three behind leader Patty Chawalitmetha of UC Irvine, who was the only golfer in the 104-player field to finish the first 18 holes under par with a 70.

Aztec junior Jackie Kazarian (Dana Point, Calif.) and freshman Kaitlen Miyajima (Wailuku, Hawaii) are tied for 18th place with matching scores of 76. Senior Anna Booth (Coffs Harbor, Australia), who is tied for 50th with a 79, and junior Maki Kamimura (West Covina, Calif.), who is tied for 68th at 9-over 81, round out SDSU's first squad.

The Aztec `B' team is tied for 16th place after carding a 30-over 318. Freshman Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.) easily leads the way with a 77, while sophomore Petra Cole (San Diego, Calif.) and freshman Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.) fired the next best efforts of 80, which is good for a tie for 60th.

SDSU's lone individual player, freshman Faith De Guzman (Sherman Oaks, Calif.), is 50th after her first collegiate round of 79.

San Diego State completes the Aztec Fall Classic Tuesday with the second and final round, which gets underway at 8 a.m. PDT. The Aztecs' A' team tees off at 10 a.m. from the first hole, while the `B' squad begins at 8:40 a.m. from the 10th hole.
