SAN DIEGO - It is Homecoming week at San Diego State, and several festivities have been planned leading up to Saturday's football game against New Mexico, including a pep rally at Aztec Center on Friday, Oct. 19.
The pep rally will kick off Friday, Oct.19 at noon at the Aztec Center outdoor patio. SDSU football head coach Chuck Long will address the fans, with the band, cheer squad and dance team set to perform. At the conclusion of the rally, this year's Homecoming Court will be unveiled.
This year promises to be one of the best Homecoming celebrations SDSU has seen yet, with the entire week packed with events from Oct. 15-20. Each event is tailored to this year's Rock 'N Roll theme. The Cultural Arts and Special Events Board (CASE) from Associated Students is coordinating the week's activities, which are free of charge.
San Diego State men's head basketball head coach Steve Fisher will serve as honorary chairman for this year's homecoming celebration. As the campus "celebrates State" on Oct. 20, Fisher will make personal appearances speaking to Aztec fans and alumni about the university as well as its athletics programs.
Throughout the week, different student organizations will compete for the SDSU Homecoming Spirit Trophy. The trophy will be awarded to the winning organization during the Aztecs-Lobos game at Qualcomm Stadium. The MWC contest is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. PT start.
