SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State rowers will participate in the 2007 Walk to Cure Diabetes on Sunday (Oct. 14) on the campus of UC San Diego. Check-in for Sunday's event starts at 7:30 a.m., while the walk will begin around 9 a.m. It is one of two community service projects the Aztec crew team will be involved with in the next few weeks, as SDSU will participate in the San Diego Row for the Cure on Oct. 28.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) will once again be leading the Walk to Cure Diabetes. The foundation holds walks all over the nation with 200 different walk sites and over 500,000 participants. The goal of JDRF is to make a difference in someone's life with Type I Diabetes.

The Aztec rowers are going to volunteer in a variety of ways, including helping with check-in, the distribution of food at the food booth, passing out tee-shirts, set-up preparation and clean-up following the event.

After a successful showing in a scrimmage versus San Diego on Oct. 5, the San Diego State rowing team will begin its 2007 fall season on Oct. 27 when they travel to Sacramento for the Head of the American. The following day (Oct. 28), the Aztecs will compete in the San Diego Row for the Cure.
