BROOMIELD, Colo. - Playing its first 54-hole tournament of the 2007-08 season, the San Diego State women's golf team is currently in 10th place with a two-round total of 29-over 605 Monday at the University of Colorado's Heather Farr Memorial Invitational in Broomfield, Colo. The Aztecs have been paced by senior Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia), who is tied for ninth with a 2-over 146, at the par-72, 6,211-yard Omni Interlocken Golf Club.
SDSU is just one stroke out of ninth and three out of eighth, but trails day one co-leaders host Colorado and Oklahoma, who are both tied at 12-over 588. On the individual leaderboard, Booth is five strokes off the pace set by Colorado's Dominique Pytlewski, who is one of just four golfers in the 100-player field to be under par with a 3-under 141.
Booth matched her career-low round with a pair of 73s and posted the best effort of her Aztec tenure in 36 consecutive holes by two strokes. She had five birdies on the day and added 26 pars.
SDSU has two other players in the top 50 overall after 36 holes. Sophomore Maki Kamimura (West Covina, Calif.) is tied for 37th at 8-over 152, and junior Jackie Kazarian's (Dana Point, Calif.) is tied for 47th at 10-over 154. Kazarian improved her first round total by 12 strokes with a career-best 71, which is also the top single-round performance by an Aztec since last season's Aztec Fall Classic in mid-October.
Rounding out the San Diego State contingent are senior Kim Carmody (Palatine, Ill.), who stands in a tie for 53rd with a 155, and freshman Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.), who is tied for 87th at 164.
