CHICAGO - Former San Diego State men's soccer great Tally Hall has been called up to the U.S. National Team Camp head coach Bob Bradley announced Tuesday. Hall, a two-time All-American and three-year letterwinner at SDSU, is one of 21 players named to the initial roster that will train in Europe for the team's international match against Switzerland on Oct. 17.
The U.S. team will begin training Wednesday (Oct. 10) in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland, and will move on to Basel on Oct. 15. The final roster for the United States-Switzerland match, which will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel and Galavision on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 11:30 a.m. PT, will be announced following next weekend's competitions.
"This is a great opportunity to gather many of our European-based players to have some quality time together, with the reward at the end of it being a match against a very good Switzerland team," Bradley said. "We are continuing to develop our team as World Cup qualifying approaches, and this week gives us another good chance to integrate more players into our system."
Hall, who is currently playing for Denmark's Esbjerg FB, is one of three goalkeepers on the initial roster and one of eight players with one cap or less. Other notable names on the roster include Freddy Adu, DeMarcus Beasley, Carlos Bocanegra, Steve Cherundolo (San Diego, Calif.), Clint Dempsey, Eddie Lewis, Oguchi Onyewu and Sal Zizzo (San Diego, Calif.).
Hall was a standout at San Diego State, garnering All-America honors in each of his final two seasons. A two-time Pac-10 first-team selection and NSCAA all-Far West honoree, Hall was named an Academic All-American in 2006 after is senior campaign.
