PALO ALTO, Calif. - San Diego State had all seven of its cross country runners establish personal records at the 6K Stanford Invitational Saturday afternoon. With the entire Aztecs `B' team setting personal bests at the 5K UC Riverside Invitational earlier in the day, SDSU had all 13 competing athletes post personal records on Saturday.
For the fourth straight meet, Lisa Naucler was SDSU's top runner clocking in at 22 minutes, six seconds. Her effort erased her previous personal-record time of 22:42.20 and put her just six seconds outside San Diego State's all-time 6K top-10 list.
Kristin Glen was the next Aztec to cross the finish line, posting a time of 22:52 and was followed by Makenzie Mabry, who finished the race in 23:12.
Stephanie Armstrong led a group of four who finished the race within 33 seconds of each other coming in at 23:28. Crossing the finish line after Armstrong was Anne Vieira (23:48), Darien Buc (24:00) and Alyssa Robinson (24:01).
As a team, San Diego State finished in 16th place (434 points) in a highly-competitive 28-team field that featured top-ranked Stanford and eight regionally ranked schools from the West, Mountain and South Central regions. The 6K race marks the first for SDSU this season.
The Aztecs will return to action Saturday, Oct. 6, when they compete in the Triton Classic on the campus of UC San Diego. The meet is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. PT start.
