The San Diego State women's tennis team kicks off the 2007 fall tournament season on Friday, Sept. 28, when it plays host to the annual SDSU Fall Classic at the Aztec Tennis Center. A field of six teams will be competing on The Mesa from Friday to Sunday.

Among the teams making the trip to SDSU are Pepperdine and Arizona, both of which advanced to the 2007 NCAA tournament and finished the year ranked 17th and 42nd in the nation, respectively. Rounding out this year's competitors are Denver (No. 48), Rice and cross-town rival USD.

The three-day tournament will feature individual competition and no team scoring, with two flights of singles matches and one flight of doubles. The action will get underway at 9 a.m. PT on Friday.

San Diego State finished the 2006-07 campaign ranked 49th in the final ITA poll after making its 10th NCAA tournament appearance in the last 12 years and 20th overall in the program's history. The Aztecs compiled a 14-12 record in dual-match competition last season, including a 6-2 mark in the Mountain West Conference. Senior Eliska Krausova is the Aztecs' only returnee who earned all-MWC honors last year.
