SAN DIEGO - San Diego State crew head coach Jennifer Zebroski has announced the hiring of Guillermo Lemus as an assistant coach at SDSU. Lemus brings a wealth of experience to the Aztecs, including previous stints at UCLA and Loyola Marymount.

"We are ecstatic to have Guillermo join our staff," Zebroski said. "He will be a great fit for our program and will bring a wealth of experience to San Diego State. His vast knowledge of rowing and the stroke will benefit our team, especially the novices."

Lemus comes to SDSU from the California Yacht Club, where he has spent the last two years as the club's junior rowing head coach. In his two years at CYC, he transformed a recreational junior program into a national competitor. At nationals, Lemus led the CYC to three grand and two petite finals.

Before CYC, Lemus coached at Lions Rowing Club in Marina del Rey, Calif., where he established the club's first competitive master's team at the national level. He helped the LRC to three gold and two silver medals at the 2006 Master Nationals Championships.

Prior to his stints at LRC and CYC, Lemus was an assistant women's rowing coach at UCLA from 2001-05. At UCLA, he was in charge of the novices, including all aspects of coaching and recruiting. In addition, Lemus oversaw matters related to the rowing facility and coordinated regattas and team activities.

Previously, Lemus was the UCLA women's club rowing head coach (1999-2001) and an assistant men and women's rowing coach at Loyola Marymount (1998-99), where he coached both novice programs.

Lemus also was the women's novice rowing coach at the Marina Aquatic Center from 1996-99.

A 1990 graduate of the International Institute for Computer Studies, Lemus owns a U.S. Rowing Level III Coaching Education Certificate.

Lemus resides in San Diego.
