SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team began its second full week of fall camp on Saturday with a single afternoon practice, going a little more than two and a half hours in hot, humid conditions at the Aztecs' on-campus facility.

The highlight of the workout was the scrimmage to end the day, lasting nearly an hour and including some tackling and red-zone situations. Junior wide receivers Simon Ayala (Oxnard, Calif.) and Bryan Dougherty (Salinas, Calif.) both had touchdown grabs during the scrimmage, which featured frequent substitutions on both sides of the ball.

"I thought the young quarterbacks stood in there and did some really nice things," said assistant head coach and defensive coordinator Bob Elliott. "I liked the way both (freshman Ryan) Lindley and (redshirt freshman Kelsey) Sokoloski stepped in there and threw the football under pressure. To me, that was a good thing to see."

Elliott and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Del Miller ran practice for the second consecutive day, as head coach Chuck Long remains in Chicago visiting his father, Charles, in the hospital.
