SAN DIEGO - Following an off day, the San Diego State football team had a pair of practices to open its second week of fall football on Friday at the SDSU Practice Fields.
San Diego State assistant head coach Bob Elliott and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Del Miller ran both practices as head coach Chuck Long was in Chicago visiting his father, Charles, in the hospital.
As for practice, Elliott said little changed due to the absence of the head coach.
"Right now (practice) is workmanlike," he said. "We have a plan and we work it. We did miss Chuck's energy and his enthusiasm."
San Diego State will hold single practices the next three days. The next two-a-day practices will be held Tuesday.
Aztec fans will have their first opportunity to see the 2007 squad a week from Saturday (Aug. 25) at the annual Family Day Scrimmage. The Qualcomm Stadium gates will open at 1 p.m., with the scrimmage scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
