San Diego State head coach Chuck Long and his staff hosted Football 101 for Women, a clinic specialized for women to learn the basics of the game. This event was held Wednesday evening at the Aztec Athletics Center and gave the 150 women who attended the opportunity to meet coach Long and experience SDSU football.

"We had a great turnout and it's a great start," said Long. "We want to keep doing the clinic and I told them this clinic is for you and whatever you want us to do to keep improving we'll do it. It's been fun."

The evening commenced with a reception in the Aztec Hall of Fame where participants had the chance to intermingle before the team made an appearance after their first two-a-day practice on their way to the locker room.

Following the reception was a presentation by Long where he discussed the basics of football using past game films. Tight ends and special teams coordinator Toby Neinas also made an appearance to explain the football basics. Quarterback Kevin O'Connell as well as two volunteers from the audience suited up in full uniform.

After Long's presentation, a "mini practice" was run by football staff on the football field to illustrate a practice setting. Volunteers had the opportunity to participate in practice drills taught by the SDSU football coaching staff.

The night ended with an Aztec Football quiz and those who were interested in touring the Aztec training facilities got to view the weight room, equipment room, training room, and the football practice field.

Every person who attended the event received a t-shirt, sunglasses, an autographed mini football and football tickets courtesy of the San Diego State Alumni Association.
