SDSU Women's Soccer Picked to Finish Fourth in MWC

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The San Diego State women's soccer team was picked to finish fourth in the Mountain West Conference, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

The Aztecs, under first-year head coach Mike Friesen, received 29 points, eight behind UNLV.

The Utes and Brigham Young were tabbed co-favorites for this season's conference crown with each receiving 46 points and four first-place votes. Utah, BYU and UNLV all reached the NCAA tournament a year ago.

Last season, SDSU finished 6-11-3 overall and 2-3-2 in conference play. The team's MWC mark tied them for fifth with Wyoming.

Friesen and his Aztecs open their season at home at the SDSU Sports Deck with games against Toledo on Aug. 31 at 4 p.m. and Florida Atlantic on Sept. 2 at 2 p.m.
