SAN DIEGO - San Diego State senior Kraig Chiles scored the game-winning goal to lift the SoCal Fusion to a 1-0 victory over Queen City FC in the National Premier Soccer League championship game on July 28.

Chiles, a two-time all-Pac-10 performer, tallied the game-winner late in the first half, when he blasted a shot from 18 yards out into the upper-right corner of the net.

Chiles, one of three current Aztecs on the team, helped the Fusion to a 10-3-1 regular season record. The Fusion plays its games in the six-team Southwest Conference. San Diego Pumitas, Denver Kickers, Albuquerque Asylum, El Paso Indios USA and the Colorado (Boulder) Crimson FC also play in the Southwest League.

Current juniors Dennis Sanchez and Nick Collins also play on the Fusion, who defeated the Princeton 56ers, 1-0, in the semifinal match the night before. Past Aztecs Luis Trejo (2005-06) and Mike Mercuriali (2003-05) also played on the team.
