SAN DIEGO - San Diego State cross country assistant coach Jennifer Nanista announced the Aztecs' 2007 schedule Thursday morning. SDSU is set to compete in 10 meets, including playing host to the 63rd annual Aztec Invitational in September and the Mountain West Conference Championships in October.
San Diego State will open the upcoming campaign in Fullerton, Calif., as it will compete in the Fullerton Invitational on Sept. 1, before welcoming a number of schools to historic Balboa Park for the Aztec Invitational slated for Sept. 15.
SDSU's home meet will be the first of six consecutive weeks in which they will compete. Following the Aztec Invite, the Scarlet and Black will head across the Pacific Ocean to take part in the Hawai'i Invitational on Sept. 22 and will then travel to Palo Alto, Calif., for the Stanford Invite on Sept. 29. While the `A' team competes in Northern California, those not making the trip will instead head north on Interstate 15 to race in the Riverside Invitational.
After two weeks of traveling, the Aztecs will stay close to home on Oct. 6, as they will participate in the UCSD Invitational in nearby La Jolla, Calif., before returning to the scene of their 2005 championship at the Santa Clara Invite on Oct. 13.
San Diego State will put an end to its six-week run by competing at the Cal State Fullerton Invitational, which will be contested on Friday, Oct. 19, before taking a week off in preparation for the MWC Championships. The league meet is scheduled for Oct. 27, and will mark the first time since the 2004 season that the championships will be held in "America's Finest City."
Following a two-week layoff, SDSU will travel to Eugene, Ore., for the NCAA West Regional Championships on Nov. 10, with the NCAA Championships putting an end to the season on Monday, Nov. 19, in Terre Haute, Ind.
