Forty San Diego State student-athletes have been named to the Mountain West Conference all-academic team for the 2007 spring semester. It is the fifth consecutive year that at least 30 Aztecs have been honored by the league.
In order to be selected, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at SDSU while earning a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their respective team.
San Diego State's women's track and field squad had 15 of its members honored, while the Aztec swimming and diving team followed with seven selections.
Included on the conference all-academic team was the tandem of senior Markus Dickhardt (Marburg, Germany) and junior Christian Groh (Crailsheim, Germany), who advanced to the round of 16 at the NCAA men's tennis doubles tournament in late May.
Other Aztecs honored include Ping honorable mention All-America golfer Aaron Goldberg (Encinitas, Calif.), second-team all-West Region softball player Brittany Knudsen (San Diego, Calif.) and all-West Region (triple jump and 4x100 relay) track and field athlete Karoline Koehler (Erfurt, Germany).
