SAN DIEGO - San Diego State senior Kaitlin Drake (Upland, Calif./Upland HS) and junior Christine Dickson (Fair Oaks, Calif./Saint Francis HS) have each been named a national scholar-athlete by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA).

To be eligible for this prestigious award, the student-athlete must be in her second, third or fourth year of eligibility and have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. In addition, the student-athlete must have rowed for the team's eligible boat in at least 75 percent of the spring season with the institution's head coach in good standing with CRCA.

Both Drake and Dickson led the Aztecs' second varsity boat to a first-place showing at the Parker Cup Regatta and fourth-place finish in the Petite Final at the San Diego Crew Classic.

A political science major, Drake owned a cumulative GPA of 3.57, while Dickson currently has 3.67 GPA in child and family development.
