ST. GEORGE, Utah - In a field with over half of the teams ranked in the top 50 in the country, the San Diego State women's golf team is 10th after 36 holes of the 21st annual BYU Dixie Classic at the par-72, 6,151-yard Entrada at Snow Canyon in St. George, Utah. The Aztecs posted a first round 311, followed by a second round 310 for a total of 45-over 621, which puts them three shots out of eighth place.

Aztec junior Kim Carmody (Palatine, Ill.) continued her dramatic improvement a week after posting a career-best score and finish at the Oregon Duck Invitational. Carmody is currently tied for 13th place, carding an 8-over 152, her best career effort in back-to-back rounds. The transfer had a career-best 75 in the first 18 holes of the day, beating her previous high of 76, which she has logged in each of the last two events. Carmody had four birdies over the 36 holes, including three in the second round, which helped to offset a double-bogey on the par-four 13th.

Carmody is the only SDSU player in the top 40, as sophomore Maki Kamimura (West Covina, Calif.) bounced back from a first round 82, to fire a 75 and end up at 13-over 157, which is good for a tie for 42nd place.

Sophomore Alana Erlandson (Palm Desert, Calif.) and senior Jamie Oliver (Los Alamitos, Calif.) are both tied for 51st place at 15-over 159, while redshirt sophomore Jackie Kazarian (Dana Point, Calif.) is tied for 63rd in the 82-golfer field with a 161. Oliver actually was the Aztecs' leader after the first round, posting a season-high 74, but had back-to-back quadruple and triple bogeys on the 17th and 18th.

Host BYU, ranked 18th nationally by Golfweek, leads both the team and individual leaderboards. The Cougars own a six stroke lead over second place TCU after firing a 14-over 295, while BYU's Rachel Newren is tied with Denver's Stephanie Sherlock at 1-over 145.

San Diego State plays the final round of the BYU Dixie Classic on Wednesday beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. MT.
