SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team will sponsor a coaches' clinic at the Aztec Athletics Center, Fri., April 20, and Sat., April 21. The clinic will be run by the Aztec coaching staff, including head coach Chuck Long. The two-day event includes guest speakers, on-field demonstrations, breakout sessions and a chance to see an SDSU football spring practice and scrimmage.
The first day gets underway with check in at 1 p.m., followed by on-field demonstrations and practice from 2:30 to 6 p.m. After a complimentary barbeque dinner, San Diego Chargers inside linebackers coach Ron Rivera will be the featured guest speaker. Rivera most recently was the defensive coordinator of the 2006 NFC Champion Chicago Bears and also won a Super Bowl as a player with the Bears in 1985.
Saturday's schedule begins with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m., followed by guest speakers from the prep level, including several CIF champion coaches. After lunch, coaches will get a chance to meet with SDSU football strength and conditioning coach Jon Francis, before the team's 1:30 p.m. scrimmage at the on-campus practice facility.
The cost for the clinic is $50 for those who pre-register and $60 for walk-ups. Four or more coaches from the same staff can register for $45 apiece. For more information, contact SDSU Director of Football Operations Brian Stark at (619) 594-4935.
