LAS VEGAS - San Diego State's Eliska Krausova and Alesya Vidov combined for a key victory in doubles on Saturday, propelling the 68th-ranked Aztec women's tennis team to an impressive 6-1 defeat of Wyoming in a Mountain West Conference dual at Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas, Nev. Krausova and Vidov were also triumphant in their respective singles matches, helping SDSU even its record at 8-8 overall and 2-0 in league play. Meanwhile with the loss, the Cowgirls fall to 5-9 and 1-2 in the MWC.

Things looked good for the Aztecs early on in doubles as the duo Holly Bagshaw and Sisse Nielsen cruised past Michelle Brown and Corina Lazar, 8-2, at the No. 2 position. Wyoming got the equalizer in the No. 3 spot, however, when Jamie Nelson and Sarah Summerfield registered an 8-4 win over Esther Cadua and Ozge Atalay, who joined forces for the first time since the fall tournament season. With the team point hanging in the balance, Krausova and Vidov outlasted Andrea House and Karolina Rowinski in a 9-7 nail-biter on the No. 1 court, giving the Scarlet and Black a 1-0 advantage.

After its close call in doubles, SDSU got down to business in singles competition, capturing five of six matches in straight sets. First off the court was Krausova, who kept the cylinders churning en route to a 6-0, 6-2 drubbing of Rowinski at the top spot. Vidov followed in succession at No. 2 after dispatching Summerfield, 6-4, 6-0, while Cadua clinched the Aztecs' third victory in a row with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over House on the No. 4 court. Milana Yusupov, meanwhile, won her fourth straight out of the No. 5 position after posting an identical 6-3, 6-1 score over Brown.

With a 5-0 lead in hand, San Diego State split its remaining two matches to account for the final outcome. Bagshaw extended her winning streak to three, skating past Lazar by another count of 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 3 slot. The Aztecs were subsequently denied in their quest for a third consecutive shutout when Kathryn Kitts dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Nelson at No. 6 in her first singles appearance since Feb. 9.

San Diego State wraps up its first weekend of MWC action on Sunday with another showdown in Las Vegas as the Aztecs lock horns with Colorado State. Match time is set for 10 a.m. PDT.
